In the past 90 days, I have done work in at least six languages (Python, Go, PHP, Rust, C#, Javascript) on ten Operating Systems (SUSE, Red Hat, CentOS, Rocky, Alma, Ubuntu, Rasberry Pi OS, Debian, Windows and MacOS). I have Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and X-Bee components and glue spread over my desk and I want to write about some of the cool things I have done lately, but when I began drafts in my traditional personal blog, it just seemed out of place. I need to spin those out to a new space.
TheBleedingEdge started as a cutting-edge tech blog discussing emerging technology, tip-of-the-spear computer science and important tech news that no one else was talking about. I used to be really good at predicting where the IT world was going and when new tech would hit the market. But that was twenty years ago and the world has changed a great deal. That was long before there were dedicated tech sites that did that for a living and eventually, Moores Law overtook my feebly human predictive hunches.
That blog has evolved into a site to express my thoughts on business and life in general. I try to keep it focussed on IT, but the very definition of that term has become blurred as tech becomes so pervasive in our lives. I kinda like it that way.
Until recently I had been posting all of my tech and code-related work in the blog space run by the company that was paying my bills at the time. Now I need to spin that work out to a new space that supports my consulting work under Aasland Technologies. If you enjoy my random thoughts but want more technical solutions, feel free to follow this one too.
